The Matriarch

There for the children:
cuddle-cuddle-cuddle.
Strong and demanding;
Purposeful.
Running the ship!
Strictly lenient;
all aboard –
if not – overboard!

Dare open your mouth
to challenge the lady;
Dare to be put in place –
walk the plank.

Bow down or
Bow out.

Enjoy the ride;
you’ll have fun!
(only on her side)

Sonnet of Consequence

I am a canvas with a unique shade –
Why do you laugh and stare with such disgust?
This is my life, this is how I was made;
We are born the same and return to dust.
The words break me like stones break fragile glass,
I sink deeper into my own despair:
I fight against the hate in every class;
Life’s face is cruel when you are past repair.
Every time I get up to fight again,
I do not want to be kept down and out!
Hope gets blurred through the strain and pain;
I counter the hateful torturous shout.
Yet deep within I know there is defence:
Karma gets us and plans the consequence.

Entrechat

I. Unieme

Performing to the sounds of nature,
Concrete jungle cacophony:
Metal crumble; stabbing bullets; restless screams.
Adagio…
Through the uncertainty of the mutated world
And into the rush:
The chaos.
The stress.
The noise.
The stress.
The noise.
The chaos.
Allegro!
Stretched to the limit;
Pushed and prodded.
Allongé!

II. Deuxième

Cabriole
Through the madness;
Keeping balance, not wanting to fall.
Fall! – scream them all.
Trying to keep it smooth, sustained –
Chassé.
Bleeding, aching,
Battered, bruised.
But composed; poised with a smile.

III. Troisieme

Trying to find the way,
The Passion Way;
Confusion as they pull in their different directions,
Contretemps.
Follow the heart; raise the spirit!
Demi-pointes!
Gracefully glide from experience:
To experience;
To failure;
To success;
To calm;
To stress.

A Fatal Truth

I’m told it’s okay to be me,
but you don’t know how it feels not to be free.
It’s okay to say that things will get better,
but sometimes they don’t.

Nobody notices someone who is in the dark;
a shadow of my brother because he’s the spark.
My parents walk over me like mat;
they wipe their feet on me and smile to him.

I don’t want sympathy, money, even love –
Just want to be noticed, acknowledged, smiled at.

Then I think…
Not everyone is meant to be great;
mediocrity, depression, loneliness: my fate.

Baby Girl

A father to one;
but a father he is none.
Caring for a little child
whose mother is wild.
He really loves to do this,
and to him, she is his goddess.
But his wife is sad:
she had no child – makes her mad.
Well, she had a baby,
might make contact one day… maybe.
For now the three struggle
because they keep it legal.
When girly grows tall
she might fall
like her mother did –
left nothing but an empty cupboard.
Hence life is tough;
all just try to bluff.

K9 Crazy

Your voice sounds like a bark;
Your footprints are dirty paws.
Your fur is dropping everywhere…
Put your tongue elsewhere!
I’m not one of your fleas.
Drool over another,
I’m not your piece of meat,
I’m nobody’s scrap,
You scavenger!

Use your claws on your pack –
Tame your hounds.
Teach them manners plus a trick!
I know you know how to catch
So here, catch this message:
Go lick your dirty wounds elsewhere,
You selfless hound!

I don’t want your rabies –
Go dig up the bones of your brothers!
Don’t think I’ll be there;
I’m not your shelter.
Don’t try ask for scraps.
Take your howls to hell,
You mutant mutt!

Drugged

Breathe in deeply
at the sight.
Magnificent;
sculptured.
Snap shot for later use:
daydream in reality.
Stare silently and stealthily…
Breath in deeply
to control the uncontrolled desire.
Touchable touchable touch-able;
I am able.

Breathe in deeply,
let your looks devour me
like a drug.
You are the hallucinogen
I’m addicted to.

Breathe in deeply
and release.

Just breathe in deeply…
